I floated a feedback form at the end of my UX Design workshop and out of 100 I got 60+ participant’s feedback that says: One of the Amazing UX workshops.

It was not an easy journey for me to have 100+ registrations in my workshop after facing Zero registrations in the last workshop I organized.

But, as a UX Designer, I have to take all the feedback positively and I came up with another workshop in March 2024. This time I tried to give all things for FREE. I started advertising my workshop as a 2 hour free UX kickstart workshop where I will be teaching students how to get started in UI/UX and what it has in the industry.

After creating a Google form, I shot a video to post on Instagram to spread the word about my workshop. After 3 long weeks, I got more than 150 registrations in the form.

On 31 March, 2 PM afternoon, I have my workshop. I have been preparing a PPT for the workshop for 2 weeks and I was a bit spectacle about the content whether participants are going to like it or not. But, I prepared my best and gave 2–3 practice rounds for the PPT.

What went well?

I started my workshop with a positive note and I also added some fun elements in the workshop PPT to hook the audience.

These small elements helped to hook the audience in the content so that they do not feel that they are attending typical UX classes.

I tried to put real-time examples to make them understand about the UI and UX principles.

Out of 150+ registrations, almost 60 participants attended the workshop, and 25 participants were there till the end moment of the workshop.

How was I feeling?

Seriously — I was not expecting this much of a positive response from the audience. Everyone was participating in the small activities that I prepared for them.

It was a great experience to see how people were loving my content.

- Anjali Dave

There was a lot of feedback that if I put here then this would become a very long article.

This I learned from this Workshop

It was a very long session of 2 hours. So, I did not get a chance to take a breath. That was one of the things I learned.

You have to pause in between by giving a mic to the other students to talk if they have any questions in between.

Keep a water bottle with you, so that you can stay hydrated during the session. My throat was dry after the workshop, then I realized that I should have kept a water bottle with me.

I forgot to give permission to open the mic to students if they wanted to, so that was another mistake I made. But in the coming session, I will keep note of these points.

So, these were my learning from the workshop. From the feedback I received, I am feeling so motivated that I can teach UI/UX to someone with more confidence now.

If you are also planning to conduct a workshop then you can also consider these small points. Also, I am planning to have more Free sessions like this in the future.

So, if you want to have a session then follow me on my Instagram or LinkedIn to get updated about all these sessions.
